Travel tips for a vacation in Denver

Denver, Colorado is a city of full contrasts. It’s a bustling modern metropolis with a skyline dominated by skyscrapers against the backdrop of the Rocky Mountains in the distance. Its a city that is proud of its mining and cowboy past but that has fully embraced the future and has all the modern facilities and attractions you’d expect from a cosmopolitan city. Denver has a diverse range of neighborhoods with plenty of attractions to keep visitors busy. The Lower Downtown district is well know for its nightlife and live music venues. There you can find many great restaurants, sports bars, jazz bars and night clubs. Denver produces more beer than any other state and it’s well worth going to one of the many brew pubs or doing a tour of one of the Breweries. If you’re looking to indulge in some shopping on your vacation then head to the Cherry Creek shopping district where you can find dozens of independently owned boutiques.  If that’s not enough to satisfy you then visit the 16th Street Mall which is a one-mile pedestrian promenade lined with chain stores and designer shops.
Apart from all the great things Denver city has to offer in itself one of its best features is that it makes a great base for day trips to the Rocky Mountains and the surrounding area. The Rocky Mountain National Park offers spectacular views, hiking trails and horseback riding. In the winter you can go to one of the many ski resorts that are just an hour or two outside the city. Just outside Denver you can also find beautifully preserved historic mining towns with Victorian architecture and old style casinos.
Whether you prefer to stick to the city or head outdoors for some hiking Denver has something to offer everyone. There are also a wide range of festivals held in Denver throughout the year including music and arts festivals, Native American festivals and of course beer festivals.
